Passing through Canada, from Alaska…with pets-?

Question by Stacey: Passing through Canada, from Alaska…with pets-?
My husband and I will soon be traveling on orders, from Alaska to Washington. Rather than taking the Alaska Marine Highway all the way down, we are considering driving through Canada. However, we have two ferrets and a cat that we will be bringing along. I know we’ll need our passports, and the animals will need current shots/health records, but traveling with ferrets can sometimes be an issue. I was wondering if anyone has any info on doing this? Crossing the Canadian border with pets that is…Thank you! =)

Canadian Food Inspection Agency website has info on this. Look for Animals, then Pet Imports from the list on the left, then check under the type of pet. I think your bigger problem will be finding a motel that takes ferrets. Okay, I’ll make it easy. I just checked. Pet ferrets from the US are treated like dogs and cats. They need a rabies vaccination and paper proof of it.

Here’s something you don’t see everyday; an old-school 1980s MCI!!! Alaska Tours MCI 102-A3 #422 on New York Avenue in Union City on a Charter during the Thursday Afternoon Rush; too bad this bus doesn’t have the DD 8V92TA engine, but it’s Detroit Diesel 6V92TA engine sounds GOOD!!! A rare gem in an era were 21st century buses predominate the streets.

I am interested in an Alaska cruise for the next season. What is the best time to go & what cruise is best?

Question by Spanishpika: I am interested in an Alaska cruise for the next season. What is the best time to go & what cruise is best?
There will be about 7 people going. I know there are a lot of options out there. I am interested in a sea/land tour too. I want opinions on what is the best Alaska cruise to go on and when. Thanks!

I plan on going next year too. I got a great book from the Alaskan Tourist board. It is so informative! It points out the best places to go, what weather to expect during the months, etc. Go to the state’s website and request the booklet. You will be so happy you have it when planning your vacation.

Rough weather on the Alaska Marine Highway

Traveling Alaska we spent some days (and some rough nights!) on the ferry. During the night we had eight feet waves and 90 miles per hour wind. When this was filmed the storm was yet to come.

Which cruise line would be best for an Inside Alaska cruise?

Question by timandrea27103: Which cruise line would be best for an Inside Alaska cruise?
My husband and I are planning our first cruise in May to celebrate our 10th anniversary. We will be departing from Seattle and taking the 7 day inside passage tour to Alaska. I have narrowed it down to Norwegian, Princess, and Holland America because they are the online lines to travel to Glacier Bay. Does anyone have any experience with these lines and can possibly recommend one over the others?

Best answer:

Answer by Parson Brown
I went on the Norwegian Sun. I would recommend it. Food was great and I like the Flexible plan for that. I recommend the Professor on board who gives the daily lectures, I saw his presentation on Captain Cook and the native peoples too. I even saw the Palin family trampoline on the lawn of the Governors’ Mansion!
