While in Skagway, Alaska during our cruise, we decided to try the White Pass & Yukon Route railway to go up the mountain to White Pass. It was a really cool adventure that took us from Skagway up to the US border and back. We saw lots of beautiful, natural scenery, engineering wonders, and mountain goats! Here’s more info from the White Pass & Yukon Route Railroad Co.: Take an unforgettable journey aboard the “Scenic Railway of the World” to the White Pass summit. Begin your excursion as you board the train in Skagway and travel 20 miles from tidewater, to the Summit of the White Pass — a 2865 foot elevation! Relax in vintage passenger coaches as you retrace the original route to the White Pass summit, passing Bridal Veil Falls, Inspiration Point and Dead Horse Gulch. Enjoy a breathtaking panorama of mountains, glaciers, gorges, waterfalls, tunnels, trestles and historic sites. See the original Klondike Trail of ’98 worn into the rocks, a permanent tribute to the thousands of souls who passed this way in search of fortune. This 3 to 3.5 hour, forty mile round trip climbs from tidewater at Skagway to the summit of the White Pass – a 2865 foot elevation. The fully narrated tour passes through two tunnels, over sky-high trestles and cascading waterfalls. It’s our most popular excursion! Built in 1898 during the Klondike Gold Rush, this narrow gauge railroad is an International Historic

Our video of the Tracy Arm Fjord during our Alaskan cruise simply does not do justice to this amazingly beautiful part of Alaska. Until recently, only kayaks were allowed into the Tracy Arm. Now, cruise ships somehow navigate the narrow fjord to the Sawyer Glacier. The weather was so good on the day we went that the ship got closer to the glacier than it had all season! It was amazing. Watch for icebergs, seals, waterfalls, mountain striations from the former glacier and especially note the color of the water. The change from black Pacific water to this teal green water was nearly instantaneous! The fjord is part of the 30 mile long Tracy Arm – Fords Terror Wilderness region, located about 60 miles southeast of Juneau. The fjord is truly one of the most dramatic locations in Alaska, or in all of the world, for that matter. The sheer, glacier-carved walls are often shrouded in mist. Glacial calving in Tracy Arm can often be quite spectacular, as huge chunks of ice break off and plunge into the frigid waters below. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to see any calving on our cruise aboard the Celebrity Infinity. Literally hundreds of waterfalls cascade down the sides of the fjord, creating an almost otherworldly atmosphere. It’s something you really have to see to believe, it’s just that unique and positively breathtaking to behold. Famed naturalist John Muir compared the glacial-carved sheer

Going to Alaska cruise, which month of the year has the most rain, during May & June or September?

Question by reica: Going to Alaska cruise, which month of the year has the most rain, during May & June or September?
We are thinking of going to 7 days Alaska Cruise either Northbound or Southbound but we are not sure which is the best month to go to avoid rain.

Answer by SB22
September will be the coldest with the most rain, however May & June still has a chance for rain, but I’d say the best time is June, it’s the prettiest. (I take it you mean next year, otherwise, July is usually spectacular too!)

Alaskan cruise, not Alaska cruise. And of course it will depend on the time of year. Research the northern lights and educate yourself and you will have a better idea.

Q&A: What’s the best travel agent for an alaska cruise?

Question by William B: What’s the best travel agent for an alaska cruise?
Want to go on alaska cruise. Someone said we should use a travel agent. Can anyone recommend the best travel agent for an alaska cruise? Thanks!

Best answer:

Answer by RzrLens
Try The Cruise Line Ltd. I have used them twice now and I love them. They are an online travel agent but they will beat any price you find, so shop around first and then book with them. You’ll get one on one service over the phone, and they are very knowledgeable. Their website is listed below. I’ve also listed several sites that are good for checking out prices.
