be ready for a long long ride. the marine HWY is great, but we found it best we brought our own food and blankets. sure they offer food, but man it can get expensive. and spring for a room. i now it looks spendy, but your only other alternative is sleepin out in the open either up in the solarium or in the theater area. no privacy at all. not to mention uncomfortable. make sure you measure the length of your vehicle correctly, if you are over the size you bought your ticket for you wont get on. they have to line all the cars up underneath, and spacing is crucial. you basically have two options, you can get off in Haines and drive up or you can get off in Whittier and drive to anchorage. Whittier will put you within hours of base, but getting off in haines is at least a 14 hour trip. Beautiful but lol a long drive.
