What are the best sights to see on an Alaska Cruise?

Question by Ryan: What are the best sights to see on an Alaska Cruise?
I am considering an Alaska cruise for next summer and I was wondering which sights can’t be missed…the Gulf of Alaska? Hubbard Glacier? Inside Passage? Tracy Arm Fjord?

Definitely the Inside Passage to see the glaciers. I loved Juneau, Ketchikan, Skagway and for a little Russian flavor Sitka. Good luck, no matter where you go it will be beautiful and an experience of a lifetime. I am so jealous

Is there any cruise goes to Alaska without stopping in Canada, one way or round-trip?

Question by Gill: Is there any cruise goes to Alaska without stopping in Canada, one way or round-trip?
My friends are visiting the U.S. on single entry visa. They want to go to Alaska, preferably on a cruise. But most Alaska cruises stops in Canada which make them unqualified to board the ships. Does anyone know if there is any cruise, one way or round-trip, that only stops in the U.S. territory? If not, I guess they will just have to fly there.

No. This is because of the Jones Act. A cruise ship must port in a foreign cruise port prior to arriving into its US Destination.

Alaska cruise with no set meal schedule or assigned meal seating?

Question by iam1fob: Alaska cruise with no set meal schedule or assigned meal seating?
Does anyone know which cruiseline (destination Alaska) that doesn’t tell you when to eat and where to eat? It’s annoying to follow any set schedules, so i’m looking for a cruise with “restaurants” that do not operate under any set schedule (or assigned seats for that matter). Thanks!

Alaska ferry boat sailing the Inside Passage of Southern Alaska. The AK ferry terminal is some distance out of town. u can see majestic mountains and blue on blue as she sets out to more open waters. On this ride, I was taking our car and some things from Skagway to Ketchikan in South Alaska. The Marine Highway is just about the only way to go, though u can also ship the car and fly, maybe some get there that way. Others have their own boats. Boating in AK waters is a big deal, in swift currents, if u fall in the water it can be fatal in a couple of minutes. Huge amount of boating fatalities are from guys falling into the water. even with the flotation vest, just a couple of minutes and that’s that.

Entry from: Bellingham, United States Entry Title: “4 nights and 3 days on the Alaskan Ferry Colombia” Entry: “We boarded the ferry this afternoon at 6pm there was a long line of motorcycles, cars, and motor homes headed out. We went to the Grocery store early so we could have snacks and drinks being unsure of what the boat had to offer, but we found out it has good food service at reasonable prices, two restaurants and a snack bar. Matter of fact it is a quite nice trip we have a person from the Tongrass National Forest giving lectures twice daily about the inside passage and surrounding area. The ferry system here in Alaska is part of the Alaska highway system, it is part of public transportation. I was told that some children use the ferry for their school bus, a lot of villages can only be accessed by these ferries. A store employee in Haines told that all their supplies come from Bellingham weekly their bread has to be flash frozen in order for it not be stale by the time it is put on the shelf a week later. Matter of fact the Inside Passage runs down through the Tongrass National Forest it is a experience in itself. Imagine a stretch of mountain-hemmed in sea, a narrow ( The channel is as small as 100 feet for an 85 foot ferry to pass through in the wrangle narrows) corridor walled with thousand
