Alaska ferry?

Question by lfinkle2136: Alaska ferry?
Im going to Alaska this summer and I want to see as mush as possible, but see it cheap… I want to spend most of my time in South Central, however, I have never been to Juneau before and would really like to go ziplining there. What is the fastest and cheapest way to get from Seward or Homer to Juneau? Ive been looking for a ferry or something but cannot find it. How much does that cost and how long is the trip?

Thanks 😀

I would look into Grey Line.com. They do all the bus travel plus, can hook you up with other transportation such as one way cruise, sea planes etc. There is a ferry but, I do not beleive it goes to Juneau. Juneau is the capitol but, has very limited port.
Good Luck.

Q&A: Planning a vacation to Alaska; What are the places to visit?

Question by DragonHeart: Planning a vacation to Alaska; What are the places to visit?
I am planning to fly to Alaska, and rent an RV. I would rather visit in a leisurely manner the beautiful sceneries of alaska, and attractions. INSTEAD of regimented visits done during the Cruises(I feel they are expensive).

Any suggestions of what places to visit? What scenic routes to visit? and Glaciers, etc? Thank you.

Got to see the Kenai Peninsula, check out Girdwood and the “Chicken House” on your way down south. Outside of Anchorage going north is Eagle River, the visitors center is nice as in very close Mirror Lake.

Question by Leah: How was the Alaska Gold Rush similar to and different from the California Gold Rush?
I need help with two questions about the Alaska Gold Rush. I just really really don’t understand it at all.

1. How was the Alaska Gold Rush similar to and different from the California Gold Rush?

2. What were conditions like for settlers in Alaska? How did they adapt to the new environment?

Thanks you guys so much!
That’s not all of my homework. That’s just the two questions out of 15 that I didn’t understand.
But thank you anyways.

Similarities – Both Alaskan Natives and California Natives were attacked, slaughtered and pushed off of their lands by travelers.

Differences – Alaska Gold Rush was more significant because there were very few people that left with less than ,000… some even became millionaires! Also, Alaska’s gold is still being mined! In fact, my grandfather and family still run a wealthy gold mine every summer.
In California most travelers left with very little more money than they arrived with.

However I’m not going to do all your homework! Do some research you’ll appreciate American History more! Have a good day!

World champion big wave surfers, Garrett McNamara and Kealii Mamala rode into surfing history last week when they towed into a monster tsunami created by Child’s Glacier in South-Central Alaska. The creator/producer, Ryan Casey, “disovered” the wave in 1995, while on location shooting in Alaska. Then after finishing his last film, Quest, a documentary on big wave surfing, he showed Garrett the wave… that was six months ago. So after a short scout in June, we went up in August to film this… For more information contact: info@deepwaterfilms or Ryan @ ryanmayrcasey@hotmail.com
