Is there any cruise goes to Alaska without stopping in Canada, one way or round-trip?

Question by Gill: Is there any cruise goes to Alaska without stopping in Canada, one way or round-trip?
My friends are visiting the U.S. on single entry visa. They want to go to Alaska, preferably on a cruise. But most Alaska cruises stops in Canada which make them unqualified to board the ships. Does anyone know if there is any cruise, one way or round-trip, that only stops in the U.S. territory? If not, I guess they will just have to fly there.

No. This is because of the Jones Act. A cruise ship must port in a foreign cruise port prior to arriving into its US Destination.

Alaska cruise with no set meal schedule or assigned meal seating?

Question by iam1fob: Alaska cruise with no set meal schedule or assigned meal seating?
Does anyone know which cruiseline (destination Alaska) that doesn’t tell you when to eat and where to eat? It’s annoying to follow any set schedules, so i’m looking for a cruise with “restaurants” that do not operate under any set schedule (or assigned seats for that matter). Thanks!

Q&A: Will there be many teens on a Celebrity Alaska cruise in the summer?

Question by Mr. Awesome: Will there be many teens on a Celebrity Alaska cruise in the summer?
I am taking a cruise with my family to Alaska, on the Celebrity Cruise line. I am really excited to go, but my only concern is will there be any people my own age going? It would be nice to meet some people, but not only that, I don’t want all the adults to be glaring at me because I’m the only teen on board. By the way, I’m mature for my age.

Will my cell phone work on alaska cruise?

Question by Shaonee B: Will my cell phone work on alaska cruise?
I’m going on a cruise in 2 weeks on the Diamond Princess from Whittier, Alaska to Vancouver. I want to know if I will be able to text while on board without getting any extra fees or charges. My mom is really overprotective and this is the only way she’ll let me stay out late on the ship.
I have at&t as my cell phone provider.

Answer by ChrisP.Bacon
No you’re at sea…no cell phone towers out there until you get to a city but it might not be AT&T in canada…it might be roger’s wireless and thus you have to pay extra fees.

I plan on going next year too. I got a great book from the Alaskan Tourist board. It is so informative! It points out the best places to go, what weather to expect during the months, etc. Go to the state’s website and request the booklet. You will be so happy you have it when planning your vacation.

Which cruise line would be best for an Inside Alaska cruise?

Question by timandrea27103: Which cruise line would be best for an Inside Alaska cruise?
My husband and I are planning our first cruise in May to celebrate our 10th anniversary. We will be departing from Seattle and taking the 7 day inside passage tour to Alaska. I have narrowed it down to Norwegian, Princess, and Holland America because they are the online lines to travel to Glacier Bay. Does anyone have any experience with these lines and can possibly recommend one over the others?

Answer by Parson Brown
I went on the Norwegian Sun. I would recommend it. Food was great and I like the Flexible plan for that. I recommend the Professor on board who gives the daily lectures, I saw his presentation on Captain Cook and the native peoples too. I even saw the Palin family trampoline on the lawn of the Governors’ Mansion!

You should contact a few travel agents and get some suggestions. You will want to find an agent that offers guidance and is not aggressive or pushy. When you are booking a cruise it is best to book early. As a Cruise Travel Agency owner, I can tell you that it requires many questions and then some work to get the best cruise for each client. There is no one size fits all. I try to ask questions that will help me suggest what I think is best for the cruiser. I work with my clients from start to finish and answer all their questions. It does not cost more to work with an agent when you are booking a cruise. Cruise lines rely on agents to do the work for them and bring the bookings to them. A good agent should explain any fees they have and any cancellation or penalties you will incur. I offer my guests all the cruise lines and am not pushy or aggressive, I look to build relationships not just a one time sale. Many agents work on the same principal. You will want to check out a few and find the one that suits you
