Is it possible to drive from Canada to Alaska into Russia and then tour Europe?

Question by Smily Evie: Is it possible to drive from Canada to Alaska into Russia and then tour Europe?
I want to find out if I can drive from Canada into Alaska, then continue driving into Russia, then continue a tour of Europe down to Spain and take a boat to Morocco. A while back a friend told me there are no roads to Alaska from Canada, only boats, I don’t know if this is accurate information.

Before its too late? Is Alaska going somewhere?

I don’t know about Ferry trips since it would be a long one from Washington State to Alaska but there certainly are cruises. You should repost this question in an area where people from Washington state would see it and answer your question better then us flat landers could.

I also am looking into an Alaskan Cruise. Here is what I have found….

Alaskan Cruises happen from May thru September. July & August are the most expensive times to go. May & September are least expensive, but the weather can be cooler. Most Alaskan tours are a minimum of 7 days. I have been getting all my information from the cruise line websites.

Q&A: Need someone who has been on an Alaska cruise/tour recently to advise on mosquito problems and tours?

Question by vlanderbab: Need someone who has been on an Alaska cruise/tour recently to advise on mosquito problems and tours?
What works for mosquitos? Do they get on the ship in ports? Are there tour options in Fairbanks,Denali and the ports of Haines, Juneau and Ketchican that are less expensive than the ones offered by the cruise line?

Anything with DEET works great. I just used Off with no problems, but on my second cruise to Alaska this summer, I am considering one of the clip on things with a fan from Off. It is something new and would be nice to not have to put anything directly on your skin. I have never seen them get on the ship, but I’m sure it is possible. My favorite tour in Denali was the Homestead Husky tour that took us to Jeff Kings facility(4 time winner of the Ididerod). He is wonderful and treats you like a best friend. Oh, be sure to go to the Red Dog saloon in Juneau too.

Is it illegal to move to Alaska and just build a cabin in the wilderness without any formal documentation?

Question by Nives N: Is it illegal to move to Alaska and just build a cabin in the wilderness without any formal documentation?
There was this guy named Richard Proenneke, in the late 1960’s he moved to Alaska. He trekked into the wilderness miles away from civilization and built himself a log Cabin by hand. He lived there for 35 years in peace, alone, in the wilderness without having any interactions with civilization with the exception of a pilot who brought him supplies. I’ve been told that this is illegal by today’s laws and regulations in Alaska – and that you can be fined big time if they catch you doing it. Does anyone know if this is true?

Even if it was illegal, they will never find you anyways.
