This is not an easy trip. There is no direct route. Valdez by the way is a looong way from Fairbanks.

The Alaskan Marine highway no longer leaves from Seattle, you now must leave from Bellingham. Take the MV Malaspina to Juneau. From Junea, you’d then take the MV Kennicott to Whittier.

From Whittier you can catch the Alaskan Train which will take you to Fairbanks via Anchorage.

The fare is about 0 one way w/o a car or a cabin. Much more with a car. It’s a 5 day trek by ship. I think you’d be way ahead to fly.

Sorry idk what’s wrong with me but I can never keep these short! But I’m in Alaska for the state fair here! It’s my first time here so it’s coooool. I’ve been recording this week. Got to spend time in Utah and see my family and hang out with them! Got to see my friends a little bit too. The tour is over for the Summer, but I’m looking forward to the shows in a couple of months!

Will Alaska be a refuge during the Armageddon? Should I start packing?

Question by lazylazymo: Will Alaska be a refuge during the Armageddon? Should I start packing?
For many years, Sarah Palin attended a church that preaches that Alaska will be a refuge for Christians during the end times. When she and her new boyfriend John start World War III by attacking Russia, will that start the end times? Should I move to Alaska now? or wait until after the election. I’m scared. Thanks for your help.

If you are being serious – don’t be scared… …Obama’s the better Candidate, but if Sarah and Johnny win, it will only serve to prove what we all thought to be true.

What tours do you recommend for a cruise to Alaska?

Question by sophie: What tours do you recommend for a cruise to Alaska?

The white pass railroad is a must do in Skagway. You can book this before the cruise either with the cruise company or with the railroad itself. The main advantage of booking it through the cruise company is it picks you up right at the terminal/ If it is raining this is a big plus. I also like what is called the bike and brew. You go on a nice 9 mile bike ride and then they take you to the Alaskan beer brewery. This is in Juneau. Do not book the Mt Roberts tram because if it is rainy or very cloudy, then it is not worth it. But if it is clear, then this is pretty cool. You can get off the cruise ship, walk 1/4 mile and then go on the tram on your own and save a couple of dollars to boot. In Ketchikan I liked going on my own and walking to creek street where you can shop like crazy, see a fish ladder and maybe lots of salmon too. I’ve been on 3 cruises to Alaska with the last one this past May. You will love an Alaskan cruise.

I would recommend Royal Caribbean or Carnival for a cruise. With a cruise, you can catch some great tours when you go to the different cities of Alaska. Check with vacationstogo.com This site will tell you everything you want to know from the number of cabins on the ship, to the weather at each port that the ship stops, to the tours that are available.

What’s the best or cheapest way to get to Katmai National Monument (King Salmon, Alaska)?

Question by barscheeze: What’s the best or cheapest way to get to Katmai National Monument (King Salmon, Alaska)?
If I get a federal government job out there this summer, I have to pay for my trip from Detroit. That looks to be about 00 round trip on Alaska Air, Detroit to King Salmon via Anchorage. I’m hoping some combination of Alaska Marine Highway (ferry) and air taxi could save me a few hundred dollars, even if it takes longer to get there. Perhaps fly to Anchorage, then get to Whittier somehow, then take the ferry to Kodiak, then an air taxi to King Salmon?

Best answer:

Answer by GG
fly to seattle and drive to Anchorage thru canada and then air taxi it .

OR fly to Vancouver and book a flight through Frontier Airlines on travel sites for as little as 0 roundtrip.

then take BC ferry to Prince Rupert and form there, get on the Alaska Mairne Highway…
